Ανυπόφοροι ‘8 Φορές / Λίγο πριν το τέλος’ 7” Single (eirma 04)

While being one of the most recognized acts from a strictly underground standpoint,
Ανυπόφοροι [standing for the unbearable(s) in English] somehow did not manage to
find their own exit by making any official releases. In particular, Ανυπόφοροι formed
back in 1979 and were among the first Greek punk acts. The group’s name was chosen as a denotation of both its sound’s orientation and its overall political attitude.
Despite the fact of having to manage on meager resources, Ανυπόφοροι finally recorded those two songs and included them -among others- in their performances during that ship-shaped era. Grounded on those compositions as well as on their historical appearances (especially that one back in 1982 at Ζωγράφου, Athens, held for anti-militaristic purposes – see picture in front-sleeve) they soon became a cult group within the national post punk scene. As G.G., one of the group’s members - who also participated in Metro Decay for a short time-period - recalls “we were not just an act but blood brothers who grew together, who learnt the world together …. and while learning and evolving, felt the need of revolting….”. Unfortunately, the band dismembered in 1984 and as previously mentioned without making any releases even in the least reliable format or in any V/A compilations. Eirkti’s crew feels more than honoured to have helped towards this direction especially considering that the ‘8 Φορές / Λίγο πριν το τέλος’ release is realized almost three decades after it originally should have. Finally, here is a chance for all active listeners to enjoy two ingeniously composed pearls, a mixture of powerfully demonstrated guitars, accompanying straightforward bass tunes, prominent synths and a mercilessly acting percussion that ends in a genuine crossover between post punk and minimal synth music.
